It didn’t rain tonight. Not that she expects any. The night sky glitters in mockery with clear twinkling stars which gave no comfort, only a little distraction while she imagine her fears. She sits on the chair on the porch waiting for something, maybe a little waft of zephyr breeze or someone else. The night slips by with only the moon to accompany her. The moon reminded her of the story where the moon waits for her love, the sun, but is forever destined not to, a dream which has no path to come to the realm of the real.
A breeze passes by but she didn’t notice, only the branches sway in acknowledgement. And Meenakshi, with a heavy heart sits silently, and waits for the non-existent cloud to give her some rain, with hope that the rain could quench the thirst inside her.

Quite unlike what we've been reading on your blog, since ever before.

Well, there is always a first time for everything. So I thought I should try my hands on something new.
rain rain go away,
little johney wants to play,
oh, its not johney, its the girl
no matter its johney who to say,
but wait its not what he pray,
oh he wants the rain to stay,
he sings a song he would never say,
may be he has gone cuckoo,
on the hot summer delhi day...
You write beautiful. It is the change of the tone that surprises me.
What to say! You have left me speechless. It can not be any better and do not listen to Sanjay. He has gone cuckoo himself so he is looking for partners. Though its not at all hot here, may thats what is unusual for him he is missing heat of Rajasthan. Any way great story and at a great time. And yeah! here Sanjay is also going in a different way writing love songs. You see you people are changing. Changing for good.
@sanjay
You write beautiful. It is the change of the tone that surprises me.
I told you I would write about simple things now. A maiden dreaming and waiting for his prince charming is a good way to start.
And yes, I want to sing a song. I thought I would sing a swan song but no, I would sing a rain bird song. They sing only twice a season.
@nikhil
Thanks. I wanted to write something… about being unloved, either due to diffidence or shyness. And I am thinking of continuing the story. Whether to make include the prince charming or not, I have not decided. Whether to have a happy ending or not I do not know. Maybe events will turn and we shall see.
About sanjay writing love songs, I cannot believe unless I see it with my own two eyes. Yes, people changes, hairstyle changes ( hehe, I know it is irrelevant, but it was said in the movie “Top Secret” it is the most humourous movie I have ever seen). And some for the good some for the bad. ( I have seen lot of bad hairstyles change and a few of the former). Yes, rain does bring change. I hope monsoon will come soon.
Meenakshi....any particular significance of the name???
different stuff from you...one which i culd comprehend in one reading (i think i did)....nice real nice
@desperado
I just plucked the name from the top of my head.
Yes many has been telling me it is different. And I wanted to make it easy of comprehension, for it was my intention to be understood, and not to be misunderstood.
It could be Taru and not Meenakshi and be the same, but perhaps not so beautiful then.
@phoenix
Perhaps, more beautiful or less so. What's in a name? That which we call a rose , by any other name it would smell as sweet.
The poor lady is waiting for her lover, or a glass of water, or maybe both ;P
But beautiful words, I must say, especially "zephyr breeze". And the moon-sun shipping is also great, kinda celestially cute. I've never written short proses, but they do sound beautiful and I think I must attempt something of the sort!
@Akshay
If your post over the last two years are of any indication, your stories are much more better, though perhaps a bit longer.
