The West Wind blows

I felt it then, that the stillness, the ennui, is just the calmness before the storm. Then a soft breeze came, pleasing the tired trees, releasing the leaves from their stifled hold on life. For them, it was the beginning of another journey. It is for the living that falling leaves pitied for. For the West Wind comes.

I felt Him coming, and chilled the very bones of mine. Now He blows relentlessly against the windows, asking for entry, disguising once as an old lady, another time as a homeless orphan. I can not, and shall not, let Him touch me, for the west wind bring the most dangerous of all Evil - Change.

The cold West Wind blows, extending His icy fingers, touching one here and one there, changing the lives of unsuspecting victims. But change has never been easy, especially to those who do not like to be forced to change. But without change, there would be stagnation and decay.

The fallen leaves had it easy, for they knew, that to survive the cold winter, one must preserve what ought to be preserved, and prune whenever there is a necessity. For the only thing that does not change is change. And this the West Wind knows.

I can still hear Him rattling on the windows.

Surely the west wind has been blowing. How much we deny it, it has been blowing forever and it will blow till eternity. You have closed your window and it is digusing itself into merciful things. But I have wecomed it with my arms outstreached, because I know it will shatter my pane if I close my window on its face. For me it does not look like it needs pity; for me it is very powerful and so is it very beautiful.

And the way you have described the west wind is very beautiful. And this is one thing that hasn't changed yet and I wish it will remain the same way. Keep the beautiful work going.

@Phoenix
Hopefully. We do not yet know what the future will bring. We can only wait and hope.

@Nikhil
Indeed the west wind is beautiful and good. But we humans are never very good at accepting what is beautiful and what is good. We are jealous of them.

i love winters,my room gets worthy.
i love west wind because they come from west and i am from west :-)

change and inertia can go side by side when two different frame of reference are used to measure them :-)
physics hehehehheehe . nothing related to ur blog though.

and once again beautifully and artistically written.

is artistic necessarily beautiful and vice versa?? :-(=)

@sanjay

I am sure you do love winter. And I am sure you do love the west wind. But how can you be from the west? Isn't this all relative? What you call west, another will call it east, and vice versa.

I do not know about being artistic to be necessarily beautiful. For both depends independently on the perception of the perceptor.
